Dropped $140 on a meal kit subscription and cooked exactly 3 of the 12 meals
Signed up for one of those meal kit boxes back in March because a coworker would not shut up about how much time it saved her. First week was great, second week I forgot to pick my meals and got sent stuff I would never eat, like a mushroom risotto kit that sat in my fridge until the carrots went soft. By week three I had a pile of unopened boxes on the counter and finally did the math: $140 for 3 meals I actually cooked. The recipes were fine but I was still doing all the chopping and dishes, so what was the point? Anyone else get suckered into these and actually stick with it, or did you all cancel after the first month like me?
Did you try picking meals way ahead of time instead of week by week? That's what saved me, I'd sit down Sunday and lock in the next four weeks at once so I never got stuck with random stuff. I also stopped getting kits with recipes that needed a ton of chopping, the sheet pan and one pot ones cut way down on dishes. Still canceled after a few months but at least I got my money's worth while I had it.
