Appreciation post: the $4 salad spinner that fixed my sock drawer
So I got fed up digging through a tangled pile of socks every morning and grabbed a $4 salad spinner from the thrift store on a total whim. I threw my 23 loose socks in there, gave it about 20 good cranks over the sink, and the centrifugal force actually matched them up by weight. Somehow I ended up with 9 pairs and 5 lonely socks that have been hiding since who knows when. My roommate walked in, stared at me, and said "you know that's for lettuce, right?" The whole thing took maybe 90 seconds and I have not lost a single sock match since. I learned that the answer to a problem is sometimes sitting in a kitchen drawer you never opened. Anyone else find a weird second life for a kitchen gadget, or am I the only one spinning my laundry now?
My mom used a pasta strainer to organize her button collection and I laughed at her for like a week straight. Now I'm sitting here wondering what else in my kitchen is secretly a closet tool. The salad spinner sock thing is genius and I'm mad I didn't come up with it first.
