Shoutout to the guy at the Portland farmers market who told me to stop buying organic everything

I was picking up some carrots last Saturday and this older farmer, Frank, saw my basket and just shook his head. He said most of the 'organic' stuff at big chain stores is just a label and the real difference is buying local, even if it's not certified. I've been spending like 30% more on groceries for years thinking it was the only right choice. Has anyone else switched to focusing on local over the organic sticker and noticed a real change?

Made the same switch a few years back after a similar chat. My wallet feels better and the food honestly tastes fresher. Frank sounds like he knows what's up.

How long did it take to feel normal?

Wait you switched a few YEARS ago? I figured this was a recent thing for you. That's a long time to be getting stuff straight from the farm or a local market. I guess it really stuck for you. I'm still in the phase where I have to remind myself not to just grab the first thing I see at the big store.
