My FICO score jumped 63 points in 4 months by paying twice a month
I used to pay my credit card bill once a month on the due date and my utilization was always sitting around 70 percent when the statement cut. My score was stuck at 640 for almost a year and I couldn't figure out why. Then a buddy who works at a bank in Charlotte told me the balance gets reported to the bureaus on the statement date, not the due date. So I started making a payment every two weeks, right after I get paid. Same total amount of money, just split in half. Four months later my score went from 640 to 703. Nothing else changed, no new accounts, no disputes, nothing. The only thing that moved was the balance the bureaus saw on report day. Has anyone else tried this, and did you see a bigger jump paying weekly instead of every two weeks?
