Warning: our little design group in Denver went from swapping leads to almost no contact after we all went remote
Three years ago we met every other Friday at a cafe on Larimer and now the email chain has been dead since spring. Has anyone found a way to keep a creative group actually talking without making it feel like another meeting?
Does anyone else notice how this happens with almost every group once the regular reason to show up goes away? It is not just design groups. I see it with book clubs, church small groups, even neighbors who used to chat over the fence. When there is no set time and place, things just fade. I read once that friendships need two things to last: repeated time together and a reason to be together. Remote work kills both at once because there is no parking lot talk or coffee run. My fix with my own group was to make it tiny and silly, like a 15 minute phone call with one other person each month instead of a big group call. That felt way less like work and way more like actually keeping in touch.
