I joined the Creative Pros Network back in January but never went to a meetup until last month in Portland. I had been working alone on my illustrations for about 8 months and my stuff felt stale, like I was just copying my own older pieces. At the crawl I sat with a group of 6 designers and one of them asked to see my sketchbook, then pointed out I was using the same 3 color palettes on everything. Two weeks after that night I finished a poster set with a whole new green and orange combo I never would have tried. My client picked it on the first round, which has not happened for me since early last year. If you have been lurking here without showing up in person, what finally got you to go to your first event?
