I doubted the online critique groups for years, then one in Austin changed my mind

I used to think paying strangers for feedback was a waste, but I joined a monthly peer review circle through a local creator meetup back in March. The first session I brought a draft of my portfolio intro and someone named Dana pointed out my bio buried the lead, took me 10 minutes to see it. After 6 sessions my project page got 3 times more views than before, so I guess the collective eye works. Anyone else find their best fix comes from a random critique instead of a mentor?

Took me three tries to even get someone to tell me my header was boring. Dana sounds like a keeper. My crew tells me what they think but they also work for me, so it's all yes boss. Strangers got no reason to sugarcoat. Even the bad critiques are good, I just gotta let it sting for a day first. My last project page got fixed by a guy who misspelled his own username. Weirdest humility check I ever paid for.
