The load chart on my cab door was off by 2,400 lbs at 6,000 feet elevation

Was running a job up in Denver last month and my main hoist kept cutting out on a pick that shoulda been fine. The charts on the door said 28,000 lbs capacity at my boom angle but the computer was screaming overload. I called the rental shop and they told me the door chart is for sea level. At 6,000 feet the air density messes with the derating curve. I had to use the manual that came with the unit which had a separate elevation table. Nobody I work with ever mentioned this and I've been running cranes for 11 years. Anyone else find this out the hard way or do your companies actually train on this?
