Spent 45 minutes blending a root smudge before realizing I used the wrong bowl

I was sitting there mixing and remixing thinking the color looked off... turns out I grabbed the bowl I use for developer instead of the one for color. Has anyone else ever had a brain fart like that or am I the only one?

Yeah I gotta be honest I don't really see the big deal here. Like yeah it sucks you wasted product and time but mixing root smudge for 45 minutes? That's kind of a lot. Maybe I'm wrong but most of the time if I'm mixing I can tell within a minute or two if the color is right. If you were sitting there remixing for almost an hour and the color still looked off, that should have been your first clue to stop and check your setup. I think it's more about paying attention to what you're doing than a brain fart. I mean no offense but this sounds like a lesson in being more careful rather than some funny mistake everyone makes.

ray said it pretty well. You gotta trust your gut when mixing. If the color isn't right after the first few minutes, stop and figure out why before you waste a whole tube. Check your ratios, check your brand of color, check if the tube is old. A quick wipe test on a paper towel tells me way more than stirring it for 45 minutes ever will. That's just a hard lesson about paying closer attention to the process.

Forty five minutes. Holy crap. I would have thrown the whole tube out the window after ten minutes, tops. You have way more patience than me. That's not even mixing at that point, that's just torture. My arm hurts just reading this. I would have assumed the color was cursed or something. Props to you for sticking with it that long, but damn.
