My dad laughed at my first drawing and I still hear it in my head

I was maybe 8, sitting at the kitchen table in Cleveland, and I spent a whole afternoon drawing a dragon for a school project. My dad looked at it for like 2 seconds and just laughed, said 'that thing looks like a sad potato with wings' and walked off. I never picked up a pencil for fun again after that, even now at 32 I can't sketch a stick figure without freezing up. Anyone else have a parent's offhand comment just stick with them way too long?
