My $40 fire extinguisher paid for itself in 10 seconds flat

I spent $40 on a kitchen fire extinguisher 3 years ago and it just sat under the sink. Last Friday I was searing a steak and the grease caught fire, big flames shooting up. Grabbed that thing and put it out before my smoke detector even went off. Cost me $40 and a trip to the store for a new steak. Has anyone else had a cheap safety item save them in a unexpected way?

Grease fire on a steak, that's a good one. Three years of sitting under the sink and it worked perfectly the one time you needed it. Makes you wonder how many of those things just expire in obscurity. Bet you'll never look at a gas stove the same way again. A new steak is a small price to pay for not having the fire department show up.

Three years under the sink sounds about right for my luck too.

Right after my extinguisher saved the day (just like yours did), I went out and bought two more, one for the kitchen and one for the garage. It's the best peace of mind investment I've made in years.
