DAE get bothered that a single wrong excavation mark costs $4,800 in rework?
A guy from the utility locating crew on our site in Akron mentioned that a mis-marked line runs about $4,800 on average once you count downtime and repairs. I looked it up later and the Common Ground Alliance puts the yearly damage bill in the U.S. past $30 billion, which seems nuts for a spray paint and flags. We switched to calling in locates 72 hours out instead of 48 and dug a few test holes before the mini excavator moved in. Has anyone here gotten burned by a bad locate, and how far ahead do you call yours in?
