The guy at the old cafe in Dayton was right about the eclipse
He said the 2024 eclipse would 'look fake' if we watched from downtown because of light pollution and traffic haze. Drove 40 miles north to his spot on a farm, and honestly, the corona looked almost too sharp, like a render. Now I'm wondering if his tip about the 'shadow bands' being an atmospheric trick is real or if he was feeding me some NASA deflection story. Has anyone else gotten weirdly specific advice from strangers that stuck?

The shadow bands thing is real, saw them on a gravel road in 2017 and it looked like heat waves crawling. That guy probably just knows his sky, not some cover-up.
