Remember when conspiracy theories had actual paper trails?

Back in the late 90s I used to dig through library microfiche for old newspaper articles on JFK. Had to cross-reference three different sources before posting anything online. Now people just share a blurry screenshot from TikTok and call it proof. Does anyone else miss when you had to actually work to find the truth?

Honestly, you hit the nail on the head. The whole fun was the chase, piecing things together like some kind of detective. Now it's just copy and paste with zero effort, and the truth gets buried under a thousand lazy claims.

Worked best for me when I kept a physical notebook for cross-referencing sources before sharing anything. Made me double check dates and locations against actual government records instead of just vibes. That slowdown helped filter out the fake stuff before it even got out of my hands.

Yeah @markh85 gets it, keeping a paper trail forces you to actually verify before you hit share.
