Question about Apollo 11 radio blackouts, were they really just plasma interference?

I used to laugh at people claiming the 2 minute gaps meant something was hidden, but after reading the actual transcript logs and the NASA tech docs from 1969, the plasma explanation seems almost too clean. Anyone else dig into the raw data and flip their stance one way or the other?

The plasma interference thing does sound neat on paper, but when you actually read the mission transcripts, the gaps line up suspiciously well with things like antenna switches and tracking station handoffs. I mean, the plasma theory works for reentry, but those early blackouts happen during orbit when the spacecraft is nowhere near dense atmosphere. Trying to pin every single dropout on charged particles feels like a stretch. Maybe some are real and some are just procedural, but calling it all one clean cause seems lazy. Did you check the timing against the station coverage maps? That might tell you more than the NASA tech docs ever will.
