Just figured out I've been arguing with bots about flat earth for like a year

I was deep in a thread about the curvature of the horizon, and this account kept posting the same three links from the same weird site. I checked the profile and it was made the same day, had zero other activity, and posted the same exact comment on 50 other forums. What other 'debates' are just totally fake like that?

Well, at least my bot was dedicated to something as important as flat earth.

I saw a report that said 40% of tweets about crypto during a big market swing were from fake accounts. It's the same with vaccine debates and a lot of climate change stuff. The bots just copy each other's talking points and flood the replies. It makes real talk impossible because you're just shouting into a server farm.

Oh man, that's wild. I read an article once about how a huge chunk of political arguing online is just bots talking to other bots. Makes you wonder what's real.
