Caught a clip of a guy on a podcast saying the 1997 Phoenix Lights were a classified test, not aliens
He claimed the craft was a secret Air Force vehicle from Area 51, and that the government let the UFO story run to hide the real project. But the official report just says it was flares from a training exercise. Which side makes more sense to you, a massive cover-up or a simple mistake that got out of hand?

What's the government's favorite magic trick? They make a giant silent triangle vanish and then tell you it was just some boring lights. Their stories are always the least fun option.

Jade's got it right about the boring story. The cover-up makes more sense when you realize how many people saw something that didn't look like flares at all. Occam's razor gets dull when the government holds it.
