Edge cracking on a 60 foot driveway pour in Phoenix
Poured a 60 foot driveway last Tuesday and the edges spider-cracked by Friday, all along the forms. I used a 1 inch chamfer strip and wet cured it, but the 110 degree heat still got us. Has anyone had luck with a different edge tool or timing the curl here in the desert?

I read somewhere that the heat pulls moisture out the edges before the middle even sets. That matches what you're seeing. The chamfer helps but it won't stop the curl when it's 110. A guy on a concrete forum said he wets the subgrade right before pour. Keeps the bottom cooler or something. Might be worth trying next time.
