Hot take: swapping a board on a 6 month old laptop vs telling the client to just buy new
Client brought in a Dell that died 6 months after purchase and I fixed it with a $90 board swap in 40 minutes, but my coworker says we should've pushed them toward a new unit since the labor math barely works. Where do you all draw that line?
Did the same thing last year on a cracked Lenovo, swapped the board for like 60 bucks and got it back same day. If the fix is fast and cheap, the client walks out happy and you still made money on the bench time.
