The tender operator's tip about my mask clearing finally clicked

We were doing a pipeline inspection off Port Fourchon last month and the tender kept yelling at me to slow down my clears, turns out I was wasting air and time doing 3 big ones instead of 1 steady trickle. Changed it on the next dive and my bottom time jumped by almost 20 minutes, has anyone else had a deck hand point out something that obvious that you just missed for years?

My first real tank job in the gulf back in 03, the deck boss on a lift boat finally told me my buoyancy was all wrong during deco stops. I'd been over-weighted for years and just fought it the whole way up, burning through gas like crazy. He made me drop two pounds of lead and do a proper hover at 15 feet, and it was like a whole new world. Ended up cutting my deco time by a solid 8 minutes on the next wreck dive just because I wasn't fighting the gear. Funny how the simplest stuff from the guy watching you from the surface is the stuff you never see yourself.
