I always said a full face mask was overkill for shallow inland work, then a job in Tulsa last month changed my mind
For about 6 years I ran a standard half mask with a hard hat and comms on every inland job, mostly because that's what my first sup in Baton Rouge drilled into me. Last month we were doing a pump intake inspection at a plant outside Tulsa, only about 22 feet of water, and the silt was so bad I couldn't see my own gauge hand in front of my face. My tender Marcus kept having to grab my hose because I couldn't hear him on the comms over the pump noise, and I ended up surfacing twice to figure out where I even was. Anyone else here switch to a full face setup for dirty shallow water, or did you find a better way to deal with the comms and visibility issues?
