I thought single issues were a waste of cash until I did the math on my pull list
For 4 months I bought nothing but trades because I figured $4 to $5 a floppy was a ripoff. Then my shop in Reno ran a sale and I grabbed the single issues of Immortal Hulk #1 through #10 for $2 each, and I could actually follow the letters page and the cover teases month to month. Reading it as it came out felt way different than binging a trade in one night, and I ended up way more into the book. Anyone else switch back to singles after going all trades, or am I the only one who caved?
Been there. I went full trades for like two years and thought I was saving money and shelf space. Then I grabbed a few singles off the rack on a whim and realized I was missing half the fun. The wait between issues makes you sit with what you just read instead of blowing through 6 issues in one sitting. You catch stuff you would skip right past in a trade. The letters pages and the hype around each issue pull you into the book in a way a collected volume never does. My wallet hates it but my pull list is back and I am not going back to trades only.
