Spent $340 on a burr grinder and my $18 hand grinder still wins, change my mind
Back in March I dropped $340 on a fancy electric burr grinder because every video said it was the one upgrade that changes everything. Six months later the thing sits on my counter because it can't do a coarse enough grind for cold brew without throwing boulders, and my $18 Hario hand grinder from 2019 still gives me a more even cup. Here's the split I keep running into: half the people I talk to say I just haven't broken it in or dialed it right, the other half say hand grinding is fine and I got suckered by the upgrade bug. I timed it, 40 turns gets me 20 grams and it takes about 50 seconds, which is not the nightmare everyone warned me about. So which is it, am I using the electric one wrong or is the hand grinder just better for what I drink? Genuinely want to know before I sell the electric one and lose another $100 on the resale.
