My French press carafe cracked after 9 winters of daily use
Last Tuesday morning I went to push the plunger down and the glass just gave up, split right down the side with coffee everywhere on my counter. That thing had survived moving to Portland, three different kitchen remodels, and countless camping trips, so I honestly felt a little sad tossing it in the recycling bin. I grabbed a cheap plastic pour-over cone from the corner store as a temporary fix, but it tastes way more bitter than my usual brew. The metal mesh filter on the press is still fine, so now I'm looking at replacement carafes online and they run anywhere from $25 to $60 which feels steep for just the glass part. Has anyone else had a press break on them after years and found a good replacement brand that fits the old base? The bolt pattern on mine seems like it might be nonstandard, so I don't want to order blind and end up with another mess.
