Pro tip: the new guy said out loud that he skips deburring because 'nobody checks,' and I can't stop thinking about it
I watched a part leave my bench last Tuesday with a burr still on it because I was behind on a 150 piece run, and his words hit different. How do you all handle it when the clock and your own standards go to war?
Does your shop track stuff like that or does it just come down to whoever happens to eyeball the part after you? The part that got me was the "nobody checks" line, because that guy is basically saying the only reason to do good work is getting caught. Is your lead or QC even set up to catch a missed burr, or would it just sail through to the customer? And when you did let that one go out the door, what made you decide it was the piece you'd cut corners on instead of slowing the run down? I keep going back and forth on whether the fix is more checks or just refusing to let a clock run your hands.
