Hit 10,000 parts on the same insert last Tuesday and had to double check the counter
Back when I started running a lathe in 2009, we were lucky to get 800 parts out of one edge before it started tearing up the finish, so I got in the habit of swapping inserts every shift out of pure fear. Last Tuesday the counter on my Okuma read 10,012 parts on a single corner of a CNMG, and the finish was still shiny enough that QC walked right past it. Is anyone else seeing insert life like this now, or did I just get a freak batch?
