Warning: paper straws in my iced coffee fall apart in 4 minutes and I timed it
I sat at a cafe on Elm Street last Tuesday with a stopwatch app and timed 5 paper straws in a cold drink. Every single one went soft and bent between 4 and 7 minutes, so I switched to a metal straw I keep in my bag. Here is the part people get wrong: they toss the paper straw after one sip and grab a new one, which means way more waste than just using one reusable straw for the drink. The cafe owner told me they go through 3 boxes a week because of this. Does anyone have a straw that actually holds up in a thick smoothie, or am I stuck carrying two metal ones?
