The plastic wrap I used for 5 years was never recyclable, a bin worker in Austin set me straight

I always tossed cling wrap in the recycling bin thinking it was fine. Last Tuesday a city worker flagged my bin and pulled out a wad, saying film plastic jams their sorting machines and belongs in the trash. I had no idea, turns out only bags labeled #2 or #4 are accepted at the drop-off site, not the stuff from the grocery store. Anyone else been quietly contaminating their recycling with film plastics?
