The day I realized my 57 Chevy was sweating in its own blanket
I kept my Bel Air under a heavy tarp for 3 years in my folks' garage up in Cleveland, thought I was protecting the paint. Last month when I lifted it off, I found condensation beading all over the chrome and a musty smell that won't quit. How do you guys keep moisture from building up under car covers without running a dehumidifier round the clock?

Toss a couple DampRid buckets under there, swapped monthly, works wonders.

Yeah "three years under a tarp in Cleveland" is just asking for trouble. I remember my buddy left a Buick under a tarp for two winters back in Buffalo. He was all proud of himself but when he pulled the cover off the whole interior smelled like a wet dog that had been rolling in mud. Had to junk it in the end. So yeah moisture and tarps are like oil and water.
