Serious question, did I wreck my grandpa's 68 Impala by covering it with a blue tarp for 4 months in Fresno?
I parked it under a cottonwood tree in my mom's yard off Van Ness and threw a $20 blue tarp over it in April because I thought shade plus cover equals protected, and when I pulled the tarp off in August the paint on the trunk lid was blistered and there was rust fuzz along the drip rail where the tarp had been holding water against the metal. Now I'm reading that you're supposed to use a breathable cover and keep the thing off bare dirt, which I did none of, and I'm staring at $3,000 worth of bodywork that maybe didn't need to happen. Does anyone here use those cheap plastic tarps at all or is that just a known way to bake moisture into a car?
