My uncle's garage flooded in Macon last spring, now I'm paranoid about where I keep my Chevelle
My uncle kept his 1968 Chevelle in a garage in Macon, Georgia, and last April a storm dumped 5 inches of rain in 2 hours and the floor was underwater. He didn't find out until 3 days later, and the water had ruined the bottom of the doors and the floor pans. I live 20 minutes away and my garage sits at the bottom of a small slope, so now I'm looking for ways to keep my car dry without dropping thousands. I was thinking a raised platform or some kind of barrier at the door, but I don't know what actually works. Has anyone here dealt with a garage that takes on water, and what did you do?
Oh great, so your garage is basically a swimming pool waiting to happen. A raised platform would help but you gotta make sure the water can't just chill underneath it and rot your frame from below. In my experience a simple concrete curb at the door plus a good sump pump does more than most fancy fixes, but your mileage may vary.
