Guy at the Pomona swap meet talked me out of going with a modern LS swap in my 68 Camaro
I had my heart set on dropping a 5.3 LS into my 68 Camaro because everyone on YouTube makes it look easy and cheap. Then a guy named Walt at the Pomona swap meet looked at my car and asked why I wanted to rip out a numbers matching 327 that still runs. He said he did an LS swap on his own 68 and spent $4,200 just chasing wiring, mounts, and cooling problems, and the car never felt like a classic again to him. That number hit me harder than any forum argument because I was budgeting $3,000 for the whole job. Now I am leaning toward rebuilding the 327 with a mild cam instead, and I want to know if anyone here has regretted modernizing a survivor car.
