Was sure those creosote logs were a gimmick until a job in Cleveland proved me wrong
I always rolled my eyes at those chimney cleaning logs you can buy at the hardware store, figured they were just a way to get homeowners to skip calling us. Then a customer in Cleveland asked me to look at her flue after she burned those logs once a week for two winters, and the glaze was way softer than I expected, came off with a regular brush instead of the rotary. It is not a replacement for a real sweep, not even close, but I was wrong to call them useless. Anyone here keep a few on the truck to hand out to folks who wait too long between cleanings?
