Rigid brush vs. rotary whip, the squirrel nest taught me the truth

Last Monday in Dayton I pulled a job where the homeowner said the fireplace was drafting weird. I started with my trusty rigid rod and brush, standard angle, and I just kept knocking debris down but the flue stayed clogged. On a hunch I switched to my rotary whip attachment, the one I normally save for heavy creosote, and within 20 seconds a whole soggy nest of twigs and leaves came tumbling out. That whip chewed through what the brush spent an hour failing at, anyone else find the rotary head just better for blockages, or am I late to the party?

Buddy of mine swore by the rigid brush for years, then got a nest jam so bad he was out there two hours. Borrowed my rotary whip and cleared it in one pass, now he wont touch the brush for anything but light soot.
