Dropped $600 on a fancy carbon fiber brush rod last year

Thought I was being smart with the weight savings. Snapped it on the third job hitting a slight offset in a flue tile. My old steel rod is still going strong 8 years later. Anyone else regret going lightweight?

Broke a titanium extension ladder on a squirrel guard last month, right there with you.

Funny you mention that, I did the same thing with a carbon fiber brush rod a few years back. Thought I was upgrading but it just felt flimsy on the real gritty jobs. I ended up going back to a good old steel rod with a fiberglass core. That thing has taken hits from tight offsets and even a few missteps on roof edges. Never snapped on me. I keep the carbon fiber one for really clean, easy flues now. Sometimes the heavy stuff just lasts better.
