Warning: my $12 rice cooker died mid batch and I finished the rice in a pot, and honestly the pot rice came out better
So now I am stuck arguing with myself. The cooker is easy and I can walk away, but the pot took 20 minutes of paying attention and gave me better texture for a 99 cent bag of rice. Which one do you all pick when every dollar counts?

Twenty minutes of standing there? Hard pass. The whole point of a rice cooker is that I can go do laundry or whatever and not think about it. That said, a 99 cent bag of rice is honestly forgiving enough that even a lazy cooker gets it close. For me the cheap cooker wins just on the amount of my life it gives back.
