Just realized dried beans beat canned beans way harder than I expected, and I almost went back
I mean, I get why people grab the cans. Its fast, no planning, just pop and dump. I did that for a long time. But last month my grocery run in Boise came to $212 for two weeks and I was kinda mad about it. So I tried the $1.29 bag of pinto beans instead of the 99 cent cans, and I did the math after. That one bag made like 12 cups cooked. Twelve. The cans give you maybe 3 and a half cups for the same money. It takes a soak overnight and like 90 minutes on the stove but I just do it while I'm doing other stuff. The taste is different too, not as salty and the beans hold up better in a pot of chili. Idk, maybe its just me but I don't think I can go back to cans now. Anyone else make this switch or am I late to the party on this one?
Yeah the cost thing alone is enough to make you switch. Who has time to plan a soak though, thats the only part that gets me. Still, 12 cups vs 3 is kind of a no brainer.
