Had a chat with my neighbor about why he keeps a junk car on his lawn for 8 years
He told me it was a parts donor for his grandfather's old pickup that's been sitting in the garage since 2003, and I kinda get it now because I used to think it was just trash, but that connection to family history made me rethink my whole 'clean it up or tow it' attitude.

Respectfully, 8 years is too long for a rust pile with a story.

Honestly that's fair if you're just looking at it on a surface level. Tbh my uncle's old Chevy sat in his yard for almost a decade before he finally got it running again, and now he won't shut up about how it's "got soul." Ngl some people just see the patina as character, not neglect.

Patina as character not neglect" - I love that line, its so true. My dad has a old Ford truck in the backyard that hes been "gonna fix up" since I was a kid, and I used to be so embarrassed by it. But now that hes gone I cant bring myself to tow it, that rust bucket means more to me than any new car could. Sometimes its not about the junk, its about who you see in it. I get why your neighbor held onto it for 8 years, family stuff just hits different when you stop and think about it.
