Warning: power stretcher on a spiral staircase is a bad idea

Last Tuesday I took a job in Evanston, small landing at the top of the stairs, customer wanted one piece from the hallway through the turn. I figured I could angle the power stretcher and make it work, but the head kept slipping on the tack strip and the kicker popped off twice. After 40 minutes of fighting it, I gave up and did the whole thing by hand with a knee kicker, took me another hour but it laid flat. My back is still sore three days later and the customer asked why I was sweating so much. Anyone else ever tried to stretch carpet around a tight turn and ended up regretting it?

Spiral stairs are basically a stairway to back pain.
