My table saw kickback ruined a $70 piece of walnut last Tuesday
I was ripping a 6/4 walnut board for a client's end table last Tuesday when the back of the blade grabbed it and shot it into my garage door. The push stick slipped because I was cutting with the fence on the wrong side of the blade and didn't check the riving knife alignment first. I ended up with a bent fence rail, a nasty bruise on my hip, and a walnut board turned into scrap. Now I'm second-guessing my whole ripping setup before I start the next project. What's your go-to check before a rip cut to keep kickback from happening?
