My 18 gauge nailer gave up halfway through a custom bookshelf job in Tacoma

The driver blade snapped clean, so I had to finish setting every brad by hand with a punch. Anyone have a better brand that can handle solid maple without throwing a fit?

Honestly, my old 18 gauge has been through maple and oak for years. Sometimes it's just a bad part, not the whole brand.

You mentioned your old 18 gauge has handled maple and oak for years. That's impressive! What brand is it? I've had a couple where the motor just gave out after some tough hardwood. Makes me wonder if the newer models from that same company are built as well.

For solid maple, get a 15 gauge nailer, the extra power makes all the difference.
