I spent $800 on a digital angle finder and it was a total waste
Everyone in my crew swears by the digital ones for setting complex roof pitches, but my old Swanson speed square and a sharp eye never let me down. The digital readout on this thing was always getting bumped or the battery would die right when I needed it. After it gave me a bad reading on a shed dormer in Cincinnati, I went back to the basics. Has anyone else ditched the fancy digital tools for the simple stuff?

Trust me, my speed square has outlasted my phone.

Remember when laser levels were supposed to make chalk lines obsolete?

Laser lines are great for layout but chalk snaps a permanent line you can actually see in daylight. I still use both depending on the job. For rough framing or concrete, nothing beats a chalk line for speed and visibility.
