Honestly, I thought those magnetic bit holders were just a gimmick for new guys.

For years I just kept a few bits in my pocket and swapped them by hand. Then I was helping my brother frame a garage in Boise and he handed me his impact driver with one of those magnetic holders already on it. I used it for a full day, driving probably 300 deck screws into treated lumber. Ngl, not having to fumble for a bit or worry about it falling out of the chuck was a game changer. It just made the whole process smoother. What's a small tool or accessory that you guys thought was pointless but actually turned out to be really handy?

Not having to fumble for a bit" makes me feel dumb for all the bits I've dropped.

Ha, my buddy had the same thing happen with a speed square. He always called them a crutch for rookies who couldn't mark a straight line. Then he was helping his dad re-side a shed and got stuck trying to line up a long cut on some warpy plywood. He finally borrowed one just to get it done, and he said watching that perfect 90-degree edge just slide down the board was a total lightbulb moment. He texted me that night saying he felt like an idiot for all the time he'd wasted with a wobbly combo square.

Oh man, I read something once about how those little magnetic holders actually reduce wrist strain over time. Makes total sense now, you're not fighting to keep the bit in place.
