Rant: fake certification almost cost me a job offer last Friday

I listed a certificate on my resume that I took an online quiz for in 2021, thought it was legit, turns out it's not recognized by anyone. The hiring manager at a logistics firm in Akron grilled me on it for 10 minutes, and I had to admit I never verified the issuer. Has anyone else gotten burned by these scam credential sites before?
