My old boss got dragged online for a joke he made in 2011 and I think the pile-on was way worse than the joke
A guy I worked with at a shop in Columbus got called out two weeks ago for a tweet he posted in 2011 when he was 22, some dumb joke that aged bad. People found his current employer, left about 400 one-star reviews on their page, and he got put on leave within 48 hours. Here is the part that bugs me, he apologized the same day, deleted it, and nobody cared, they just wanted someone to burn. I am not saying the joke was fine, but losing your job over a tweet from when you were in college feels like the punishment does not match the crime. Where is the line for you all, is there anything from your past that would survive a full internet dig?
the punishment does not match the crime" is the whole thing right there. 400 one-star reviews and a job on the line over a bad tweet from 2011 is insane, and the apology proves he's not that guy anymore. My group chat from 2009 alone would get me run out of town, so yeah, nobody survives a full dig. The internet needs a statute of limitations.
