Shoutout to the REI flagship in Denver for the used gear wall, but half that stuff should not be resold
I was in Denver two weeks ago and stopped by the flagship store to kill an hour, and that used gear section in the back caught my eye. Some of it is a legit steal, I grabbed a barely used two person tent for $60 that retails at $200 and it looked brand new. But then I saw a sleeping bag on the rack with a rip in the shell the size of my palm, no patch, no tag explaining it, just hanging there like it was fine. There was also a Jetboil with a dented canister mount and a cracked lid sitting next to the good stuff with a price tag of $45 on it. I get that they grade this stuff and maybe I just hit a bad restock day, but somebody is going to buy that bag and find out the hard way on a 40 degree night. If you are shopping that wall, flip everything inside out, check the zippers, check the seams, and shake it out before you walk to the register. Has anyone else bought used gear from a store like that and found damage the tag didn't mention?
