PSA: My tent pole snapped in a freak wind gust at Crater Lake

I was camping at Crater Lake last July when a sudden storm rolled in around 3 PM. A huge gust snapped one of my main tent poles clean in half, leaving the whole thing sagging. I had to use a roll of gorilla tape and a section of a broken trekking pole to make a splint, which held for the two rainy nights we had left. It was a solid reminder that even good gear can fail in bad conditions. Has anyone else had to do a major field repair on a tent? What did you use?

Duct tape fixes everything, honestly.

It's the universal quick fix for a reason (like bailing wire before it).

Wow, I used to laugh at duct tape.
