I was doing a service call in a new apartment building downtown and the access panel for the main feed was completely blocked by a built-in bookshelf.

Had to explain to the property manager that their fancy renovation just added two hours to a simple tap check, so who's getting billed for that?

Man, that's the kind of stuff that makes me want to just stare at a wall for a minute... reminds me of the time I had to move an entire laundry room's worth of stacked boxes just to find a valve. Pretty sure my back still hasn't forgiven me for that one. Some people just don't think about access at all when they're building things.

Yeah, my back hurts just reading that.

Oh, the "stare at a wall" feeling is so real. I once had to pull out a full refrigerator just to reach a water shut-off that was hidden behind it. You're right, it's like they forget that things might actually need to be fixed someday. All that heavy lifting for a simple turn of a valve, and your body remembers it for years.
