The almond oil trick a finisher in Grand Rapids showed me for maple drawer fronts
Two weeks ago I dropped off a set of maple drawer fronts at a finisher in Grand Rapids and he rubbed a drop of almond oil on one to check the grain before he'd even quote me. He said mineral spirits raise the grain too much on soft maple and make you sand twice, so I switched and my sanding time dropped by about 20 minutes per door. Does anybody else use oil instead of spirits for a grain peek, or am I late to this?
