Rant: used to scribble hinge positions on scraps of plywood, now it's a $12 notebook and I'm mad it took me 15 years
For years every cabinet I built got its hinge boring marks scratched onto whatever cutoff was closest to the bench, then swept up at the end of the day and gone forever. Did a 9 door kitchen in Akron back in 2019, lost the scrap with the overlay numbers on it, and remeasured all nine doors by hand with a square. Now I keep a $12 spiral notebook clipped to the saw fence and log the cup depth, overlay, and door thickness on every job. Took one bad afternoon of rework to change something I did for 15 years. Anyone else got a cheap fix like that they wish they'd started way earlier?
